Starting UNRIAD from scratch

Recommended Posts

I currently have an UNRAID server and want to start from scratch and remove everything I have and start over using some best practice since I didn't do that from the start.  What is the best way to erase everything and start over with a fresh install?

To start all the settings over again, delete

  • /config on the flash drive, but do NOT delete the .key file

To wipe out all of the hard drives,

  • From the command line,
rm -rf /mnt/user
  • Or alternatively with the array stopped, change each drive's filesystem from XFS to instead be BTRFS, start the array and it'll want to format the drives, do that they stop the array and change the disks back to be XFS and format them again.

I also want to start from scratch, but keep all my data as far as I can, I'm sitting with a mess. From my drives 1 reports as not installed and another reports as "unmountable: no file system".

You should start with trying to fix what you have since apparently not all of your data can be accessed currently and starting from scratch won't change that.

Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete Diagnostics ZIP file to your NEXT post in this thread.

Ok, since you said I should try and fix this situation. I probably need to first make my disk 1 part of the array without a rebuild, is this even possible ?
From the diagnostics my disk5 doesn't look too great but it can be accessed now, so I'm not sure about this and getting everything running again.
