unraidbiff
Hi all, Noob here, I have looked through the forum for similar question but couldn't answer, and SpaceInvader videos appear to be out of date perhaps, however i am simply trying to encrypt my first ever array, i have chosen XFS-Encrypted as the default file system and formatted the unmountable drives but getting the obvious missing encryption key error. I can't find anywhere i should enter the passphrase as per the Space Invader videos? Any suggestions please? The manual just sends you to LUKS github Thanks! JonathanM
I can't help with the actual question because I don't use full disk encryption on Unraid, but before you get deep into it, I feel obligated to ask a couple questions. 1. Why are you interested in encrypting your data? 2. Do you have current backups of all the data you wish to keep encrypted? Encryption greatly increases the risk of data loss. Do you have a plan to keep backup copies of all new encrypted data as it is generated? Quote Link to comment
unraidbiff
HI Jonathan, Yes i keep all backups of my data. Encrytion is really to ensure that if i have a drive fail and need to return under warranty, that my data remains secure. Quote Link to comment

unraidbiff
if that happens would the parity not recovery the disk? Quote Link to comment
trurl
Parity cannot fix filesystem corruption. Quote Link to comment
Turnspit
I also set up Encryption for my Array as well as all Cache pools some time ago... If i remember correctly, you will be asked to to choose a passphrase or set up a keyfile as soon as trying to start the array. Edited June 24, 2021 by Turnspit Quote Link to comment
