March 14, 201115 yr I've got two pro-licenses system I'm trying to setup and both are behaving really bad. Currently I just have one of them powered up just with 8 disks as I'm waiting for some cables. This particular system is currently built on: - Unraid 4.7 - Norco 2420 case - Gigabyte P55-USB3 - CPU Intel i3 540 - 4GB DDR3 RAM - 1 x AOC-SASLP-MV8 (sitting on a PCIe 4x slot) - 8 x WD20 EARS (no jumper, MBR 4k-aligned) When I get the cables I'm missing, it will have another AOC-SASLP-MV8 and will be using the onboard SATA ports for the remaining disks. For now, the EARS are attached to the supermicro card (7 for data, 1 for parity). Right now I have two disks attached through USB2.0 HD docking stations to the system, and manually mounted the FS (NTFS). I'm copying some data from the disks to a user share (High-Water) that holds all the disks, and the disks are empty so it's copying to the first one. I'm getting ridiculous speeds ranging from 1MB/s to 5MB/s from each disk. Those same docks on a debian box are showing 30MB/s. Just to be sure problem weren't the docks I tried to ftp something through the network (gigabit) and it was writing on the unraid box @1MB/s. Parity looks ok (last checked yesterday night). I'm attaching my syslog so you can have a look at it. This thing is driving me crazy, so any help is appreciated. Thx! syslog.txt
June 29, 201115 yr did you ever manage to figure out what your issue was? just looking at new hardware for a build and wanted to know more about the AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards and what issues people were facing with them. thanks
July 2, 201115 yr I have a feeling, I am experiencing a related issue with the Western Digital drives. I am running preclear_disk.sh on my WD 2TB EACX drive over night to see if it solves this. Please update this thread if you solved this problem or if anyone else has the same issue here.
