Passing an Unassigned HDD to a VM

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble passing a 4TB HDD into a W10 VM. The drive is connected via SATA through HBA and I am able to see it in unassigned devices. I searched for instructions and didn't find anything really helpful. In my best attempts so far, changing something each time, I am able to see the drive in W10, but when I go to format the drive, the VM pauses. Since there are so many variables, I figured an expert may be able to chime in.
