[SOLVED] Can unRAID rebuild to existing free space?

Featured Replies

Been reading through this thread and something Joe L. added (regarding "re-construct the contents onto itself") prompted my query.

I know he's referring specifically to attempting a rebuild onto the same drive.

In any case, would unRAID be able to "rebuild" data from a bad drive onto existing free space within the array - assuming said free space is at least equal to the bad drive?

No. A disk is rebuilt at bit level.

In retrospect, that makes absolute sense. My "duh."  :D

Thanks!
