Not able to select pool to create a share

Featured Replies

Hi,

I started a new unraid installation with:

1 Disk in an array

2 Disks in a Pool called "raid" (BALANCE is set to RAID1)

2 SSDs in as Cache Pool

If I try to create a new share I can only select DISK1 from the array.

I do not get the pool called "raid" showing up there.

I want important share to be created on this pool and the disks to run in a raid1 configuration.

RAID1 is showing up and everything looks fine, except that I cannot select the pool for the creation of  new shares.

Any idea?

Include and Exclude only apply to array disks, not pools.

To create a share that uses only the specified pool, select the "Use cache pool" to Only, and set the "Select cache pool:" to the pool you want to use.

Ok maybe I get something wrong here.

My Pool "raid" contains two disks in RAID1 mode.

I want my pool "cache" (two SSD in raid1) being the cache for the raid.

So yes, I can select ONLY there but then the SSDs are not doing any caching anymore or?

Cache in unraid isn't used in the traditional computer definition of the word, it's a temporary location for new files while existing files are read and written from the permanent destination.

Currently only moves between the main array and specific assigned pool are supported, pool to pool moves are not yet supported. Multi pool support is new, so this may change with future versions.

So I can either for single array disks using the SSD cache or my pool being a slower but safer RAID1 set?
