TRENDnet TEG-S50G 10/100/1000Mbps GREENnet Switch 5 x RJ45 $24.99@Newegg

Featured Replies

This is a great switch.  I have two of these.  The most recent I grabbed from Amazon for $26, but it looks like it's up to $30 now.  This is an OK price, probably about as low as you'll find, but its regular price is only a few dollars more.

Note that the TEG-S5G regularly has sales in the $15 range, and while it is actually the newer model it is inferior to this one.  For example, it supports smaller jumbo frames, and is in a plastic casing instead of the nice metal casing of this TEG-S50G.

I'm already taking up all ports on the current router, I'm waiting for the 8-port gigE switch to go on sale so I don't have to buy a gigE router that will break the bank.

I was curious:  Where did you hear that the TEG-S5G supports smaller jumbo frames than the TEG-S50G?  From the trendnet website, it looks like both support 9216 byte jumbo frames. (Although for the TEG-SG5, the info wasn't under Specs, but, under features).

It was actually in a Slickdeals discussion where someone went through the effort to pull the actual data sheets from the manufacturer.  The S5G was noted as having 9k frame size support, but the S50G listed 12k as its maximum size.  I'll see if I can dig up the thread and post back.

This is the user manual for the S50G, it notes the larger frame size:

Could be.  That guide I posted was for version 1R.  I have a 2R and a 3R, but haven't tried jumbo frames on either yet.

Amazon dropped their price on this to $25 now as well.
