[SOLVED] Smart View (multi_zone_error_rate and other issues)

Recommended Posts

I've noticed some issues in the smart view of myMain:

  • /dev/sda: I've looked up "multi_zone_error_rate" but haven't had much success in determining what this exactly is. Should I be worried? Smart report: http://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=3Q3H8ZDK
  • /dev/sdo looks farked. This drive was preclearing using the preclear script. Are these errors possibly a result of a bad cable/connection, or are the errors definitely a drive issue?  Smart report: http://pastebin.com/embed_js.php?i=VwQi85jW
  • /dev/sdl and /dev/sdm are Seagate ST32000542AS. Any reason why they show up as "zzz"?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can clarify these issues for me.

Only the manufacturer knows.

All you can do is look at the normalized VALUE against its affiliated failure THRESHOLD.

200 Multi_Zone_Error_Rate  0x0008  200  200  000    Old_age  Offline      -      1

The VALUE has not budged from its initial value of 200.  It is not even remotely near the failure threshold of 0. Don't worry about it.

Not likely to be a cable issue.  There are 752 sectors pending re-allocation.  I'd run another pre-clear cycle on it.  If all the sectors are not re-allocated, then the drive is dying.  (and even then, that's a LOT of re-allocated sectors)

197 Current_Pending_Sector  0x0032  198  001  000    Old_age  Always      -      752

They are sleeping. (not spinning)

Thanks in advance for anyone who can clarify these issues for me.

You are welcome.
