March 16, 201115 yr I replaced one of the Seagate 1.5TB drives in my array with one of these a couple of weeks ago. So far, so good. Also, this drive reports 4-5 degrees cooler than the other Hitachi 2TBs in the array.
March 24, 201115 yr Great drive thus far ... just added to the unRAID ... getting 41-45 MB/s vs the 25-30 MB/s I get with my other drives ... however the other drives are not SATA III, but I'm not sure that that matters as I am unsure if my mobo even supports sata III (need to check)
March 25, 201115 yr If my math is right, SATA III would be cabable of moving 750 MB/sec. SATA II would be able to move 1/2 that much (375 MB/sec). Even SATA I can deliver 1/2 of that or 187 MB/sec. With a single drive connected to a controller, you cannot fill up even a SATA I pipe. Now if you are using one the the extender controllers that share a single SATA port with 4 drives, or if you are using a SSD, faster ports might be needed to get max throughput. But thatcis not the case for most unRaiders.
