March 16, 201115 yr I'm looking at rebuilding my MB and was wondering if anyone knows if this Biostar MB would be ok? I need it to support two of the SuperMicro SASLP-MV8's. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4624697 What CPU and memory would you use with this?
March 16, 201115 yr not sure about the board you linked but this JetWay will support 2 of the SASLP cards.
March 16, 201115 yr I've never heard of JetWay. Are they any good? Pretty good. They tend to be on the lower end in price and the like. One member here is using the above JetWay board with 2 SASLP cards without issue. I also base all "budget" 20 drive+ builds around this board for my clients. Not related to there motherboards but I also have a JetWay Mini-Top which I very much like.
March 16, 201115 yr Really depends on what you plan on using the server for. My client builds start out with a Sempron 140 and 2GB of generic DDR3 ram (Rendition by Crucial usually).
March 16, 201115 yr Author Well currently my server is just for serving music and blu rays. Initially I figured $100 for the mb, a$125 for the CPU. RAM is fine.
March 16, 201115 yr If that is all you are using it for then the parts I listed will work fine. If you want a little more horsepower for later pick out the lowest cost dual core AM3 CPU.
