Manually update from 6.6.6 - 6.9.2 with data? (SOLVED)

Featured Replies

Hi There,

I've just taken over mantenance of a Unraid server with 6.6.6 installed, when selecting upgrade it just returns to 6.6.6 as only available.

Is there a way I can copy specific files to this USB to update it to 6.9.2 without loosing any of the raid/data/vm/etc config?

Thanks.

You can always upgrade manually by downloading the zip file for the release from the Unraid site and extract all the bz* type files overwriting those on the flash drive.

Before doing so I recommend backing up the current contents of the flash drive just in case any problems occur.

Thanks for confirming that, I was thinking the same, but wasnt sure if any structuring in the config files had been changed at a kernel level.

I think you are fine, but that was why I suggested you make sure you first backup the flash as that means you can revert and try an alternative update process.

Yes, i restored my backup to another key and tested on a lab rig with updated bz files, all good 👍
