Upgrading Unraid server from I7 to AMD Ryzen

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Hope you are well.

I am looking to upgrade my i7-2600 Unraid server to a AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF, motherboard (of course) the whole lot.

Are there any gotcha's I need to watch out for when switching to the AMD from the Intel, any settings in the BIOS etc?

Thanks.

I would suggest disabling C-states in the BIOS.

I was running a 1600 AF for a time, even though it is still based on Zen+ it still causes issues with C-states.

Is there a "special reason", why you like to use this old Ryzen 1600?

Note that the Ryzen R5 1600AF is virtually the same as a Ryzen R5 2600 - just slightly underclocked.
