Newbie General Setup

Hello Everyone,

 

i just build my NAS and switched from Truenas to Unraid because of the possibilities i have with unraid regarding Docker, VM and Administration. I´m a Junior in IT and want to build my education furthermore.

 

Because of this i am asking for your advice how to build up my NAS for following features:

- Jellyfin Streaming Service

- Cloud for remote access

- Proxy for home-network

- playground for upcoming tests, git-repo, webserver

--> securely accessible from outside the network by me and family-members

 

Following setup, mostly recycled PC-Parts:

Intel® Core™ i5-2500 4x3,3Ghz

Intel DQ67SW MB

20GB DDR3 Ram

1 Array with ~15TB Storage (+Parity +Cache-SSD)

 

Now that i secured, run through parity-checks and made it useable for everything, i want to do everything from the top but i am unsure about what comes first, how to realize and what should have priority. Currently The Server is only reachable in my own network. I would be glad if some of you more experienced Unraid-User could give me an advice on how to handle it correctly without security-issues and exposing it to the outside.
