internal error: End of file from qemu monitor

Featured Replies

Good morning everybody, I'm having some interesting (read: annoying) problems with my VM's on my unraid server. Everything worked fine, until I disabled the VM's, and now I cannot re-enable them due to the error, "17428: error : qemuMonitorIO:578 : internal error: End of file from qemu monitor"

Restarting the server does allow me to re-enable the VMs, but if I disable again, I cannot re-enable. I've done a lot of searching but could not find the answer anywhere.

I've attached my diagnostics. Hopefully someone can provide some insight, thank you

As a test, try it again with the docker service disabled.

That worked perfectly, thank you! I disabled the Docker manager, and it restarted the VM manager straight away, and then it let me re-enable the docker manager without any problems either. So it all works fine again now.

Any ideas what the problem may have been (or how to avoid it in the future)?

Libvirt refused to unmount because something was keeping it open.  Probably a docker container that you're using to help manage VMs (or possibly a faulty Netdata that needs to be updated -> it is updated every day)

Just had to pop in and say this saved me thank you! I stupidly deleted my libvirt then realised I have an auto backup but it wouldn't start. Thank you
