August 14, 20214 yr Back Story..... My array currently is ... P=12T D1=4T D2=4T D3=6T D4=10T D5=12T (6T used) Ver 6.9.1 I just ordered 2 new 10T drives. I want to pull the D5 12T out of array, putting a 10T in its place, use the 12T as a 2nd parity, then add the 2nd new 10T Is this possible? Edited August 14, 20214 yr by Barryrod
August 14, 20214 yr Community Expert You can only user a smaller drive after a new config, and for that parity needs to be re-synced and any data on a removed disk copied manually to other(s) before or after doing it.
August 14, 20214 yr Author Decided to just order a 14tb for 2nd parity drive, was only $10 more than the 12tb. Figure that is the easiest, most straight forward way to achieve what I want, and I get to use both 10tbs in the array
