Libvirt has failed to start

Featured Replies

Hello all, I have setup Unraid on a Dell R610, I have another R610 running it as well.

This time around I am having some issues with libvirt, often I get the message "Libvirt Service failed to start."

Every time I restart the server it goes back to normal and I can see my one VM on the dashboard, but after 30 minutes or so it will disappear and I can't get into the VM tab.

The odd thing is that I know the VM is still running as I can access Home Assistant still.

I have tried to remove the libvirt file and let the server recreate it after the reboot, but even after doing this it still disappears.

I have attached my diagnostics, any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated!

Was it working when the diagnostics were taken?

Not a great idea because the XML files are also stored within it, unless you restored them from a backup

Have you done a reboot yet after recreating?

So the VM is up and accessible through Home Assistant IP and Port, but no it is currently is giving me the "Libvirt Service failed to start." error, I took the diagnostics while the error was present.

The Hassio VM is expendable because I have a snapshot of it, I am not worried about loss of data, I recreated the VM and pointed the the VHD and its right back to where it was.

I removed the libvirt img file and rebooted, it created the new libvirt image, I have not restarted again, I can do that now and report back in a few if it disappears again.

Just rebooted the server and it shows the VM there and started, as it normally should

This screenshot is 3 minutes later (Thought it would take longer) and now the VMs will not show. and I am back to Libvirt service failed to start. but I can access the Home Assistant Dashboard that lives inside that VM, so the VM is alive.
