Posted August 21, 20213 yr Hi First off, loving Unraid! So much so I want to get a second server to use for remote backups. I have searched around for answers to my problems but I am confused by it all and whether what I want to do is possible. So the premise. I currently have an Unraid server (local) and I am want to set up a second server remotely. I gather it is possible to then backup from the local to the remote. I have seen things about using Rsync. Although this is new to me. I currently use Duplicati to backup to the cloud and using this for remote backups would be great. The biggest problem I think I am going to have is wanting to turn on and shutdown the remote server. I am unsure about the solutions for this. WOL possible? But I think my remote server won't be connected via ethernet. So don't know if this works on Wifi. A solution not involving the router might be best, as I read they sometimes don't work. Some sort of Smart Plug maybe and getting the server to boot when supplied power? So my questions are; 1 - Can I use Duplicati? Is it the best solution? I would like for the data to be encrypted on the remote side. 2 - Can I wake up the remote server using Wifi? Or are there other solutions like the Smart Plug that would work? Any suggested products would be great. I am in the UK if it makes a difference. Any other tips or advice would be welcome. Many thanks Celeggur
