SMB on Mac: Can't delete a folder until after reconnecting to share

Featured Replies

Pretty vanilla setup: new install of Unraid 6.9.2, made an SMB share and some user accounts. For the purposes of describing the issue, I will call the 1st unique local user account "user 1", and the 2nd "user 2". I'm using macOS 10.15.7 to test the share on two different computers.

If I make a folder as "user 1", I can't delete that folder as "user 2" until I disconnect as "user 1" from the SMB share. The message when deleting is "The operation can’t be completed because a required item is in use."

After I disconnect, can freely delete the folder as "user 2". I checked the folder for files like "._DS_Store" (which I have disabled the creation of on network drives), and they don't exist.

I don't have this type of behavior with other SMB/Samba file servers I have, so how can I fix it?
