Old Proliant Server

Featured Replies

I have an old ProLiant server that has two processors and 32gb of ram.  Was wondering how hard it would be to make that a dedicated plex server and have it communicate with my main array where all of my drives are at?  I'm still very new to all of this and not sure if this would be a very difficult undertaking or if I should just sell it. :)

I assume you mean you want to have plex on one server use the media on another server. While that might be possible, it wouldn't be worth the extra complication and possible reliability and performance problems you might have trying to pull the media over the network from one server just so you could serve it over the network to your plex clients.

Run plex on the server where the media exists.

O.k. that sounds good.  On the market it goes.  :) Thanks for the info.
