>600 minute parity sync.

Featured Replies

I have 5 2tb drives.. one is parity. trying to sync them while empty is over 600 minutes.. Any reason to sync empty drives?  is there any way to just have parity build as info is being written?

unRAID does not really care if they are empty or not and the parity protection works on the level of our concept of files.

that is the way it happens, but the first sync is needed to establish the protection.

parity does NOT work on files. It works on every bit on every byte on every drive assigned to the array.  My older array takes probably twice as long.  Empty or full, it will take exactly the same time.
