[SOLVED] Out of memory with cache drive????

Featured Replies

Hi,

just made some improvements to my Unraid server. New motherboard, new drives and also added a cachedrive.

Im using SABnzb, Couchpotato, Sickbeard and to start with I had no problems at all. But as the day progressed I began to get some memory warnings/out of memory.

I believe it has something to do with the cache drive, but im totally lost. Due to the out-of-memory my addons like SABnzb, CouchPotato and Sickbeard does not load in memory and hence not working  :(

Please help. I've attached my syslog.

It looks like you have only 1 GB of RAM, that may not be enough for all the add-ons you are running.  Out of memory errors indicate that you are running out of RAM, not cache disk space.  I don't think there's anything wrong with your cache disk.

Another unrelated problem is that your server's NIC is running at 10/100 (megabit) speed instead of 100/1000 (gigabit) speed.  Does your NIC support gigabit speed?  If not, then you should add a PCI NIC that does (Intel is a good brand for this).  If your server's NIC does support gigabit speed, then you need to look at the rest of your network.  Your cables have to be Cat5e or better, your router/switch must be gigabit capable, and your other computers/HTPCs must also be gigabit capable.

Thx Rajahal

I'm almost sure i have 2gigs of memory, but i'll look into that and if not extend to 2 gigs. But again, i could be wrong. Perhaps I should try the memtest?

I'm aware that my server only is capable of 10/100 atm. But at the moment my HTPC is not wired to my server (only wifi) so its ok. But you are right, it should be 100/1000 and the rest of my network is capable of 100/1000 (router, switch, etc.) and I do have a 100/1000 PCI network card somewhere in my mess ;-)

I appreciate your advice though :-)

Thanks/Lappen
