Gone from Intel to AMD and now back to Intel.  Works great.

Backup Flash

Remove all CPU Pinning or isolation.

Remove anything you’ve passed through IOMMU to VMs. GPUs etc.

Screenshot Main with the locations and disk assignments.

Reboot once at least before you shutdown for your upgrade.

Backup Flash Again.

Then shutdown for your upgrade.

Thanks!

  • Hi first post here - not sure this is the best place but figure it might help someone else out as this thread is what saved me with my first Unraid build.     I just recently built my new Un

Hi - anyone know if there are still issues in Unraid 7.0 with the i915 IGPU driver and 12th gen intel chips? Since migrating to my new server I've been getting random crashes every 24-48 hours (everything dead, monitor output shows boot screen glitching/flashing test) and only pulling the power cord resets the server. Sounds very similar to folks that had issues in the past, but I'm not sure if this is really an issue anymore.

Thanks.

Not an overly helpful reply, but just to say you're not alone. I'm on Unraid 7.0, i915 loads itself, and experiencing the same issues you are (no response at all, usually remotely reboot it using a smart plug but have seen the weird screen glitching). I have extensively run Memtest, various stress tests of the CPU, replaced the motherboard recently because it was all I could think of as CPUs much less frequently fail. Unfortunately it randomly rebooted a few days ago, which is different to random locking up I guess.

Mine at least does it every 3 weeksish. I'm out of troubleshooting options beyond buying another LGA1700 CPU to see if it's that.

Is yours still doing it? I'm tempted to try blacklisting the i915 module but it feels like a random stab in the dark.

I ended up getting so fed up after replacing almost everything that I just returned the box (UGreen 4800 plus) and got another one. The new has been fine, no crashes in around 5 weeks. I'm not sure in the end what the culprit was, but seems like it must have been hardware - either the CPU, power supply or bad ram (despite many flawless memtests).

It does seem to point to hardware. I'm glad you managed to get a return and sorted it, maybe I should stop poking around with software and hoping, and just replace the CPU, hope that does it, if not I can always re-sell.

Did this start happening after updating to 7.0.0?

So I have a 12700k and unraid is reporting it running at 792 Mhz on the dashboard. Is there a way to fix that? I tried netdata, but that just reports it as 3.60 Ghz and never changes it, which isnt correct either.

You need to go into your motherboard BIOS. I just selected "Load optimal settings " and hit save and restart. That reset any CPU or memory overclocking.
