Da die WD MyBook 8TB wenig Sinn für mich ergeben, schwenke ich nach und nach auf Toshiba MG08 16TB um einige sind im Betrieb und langfristig benötige ich auch mal neue parity Platten.

 

Dieser Test zeigt aber, dass die 4K-Random-Lese-/Schreibtests nicht so berauschend ausfallen, da die Parity einen Job bedient und vllt hier auch häufig Random anfällt, würde ich gerne mal die Einschätzung anderer Nutzer erfahren. 

 

Im Zweifel wird es dann eben die Seagate Exos X16 Reihe parity werden und für Daten dann eben die Toshiba MG08 wobei ich mir hier nicht sicher bin ob wie gut diese "Serverplatten " auf häufiges WoL bzw "Load / Unload" klarkommen, bei Seagate finde ich nichts dazu im Datasheet BEi WD/Thoiba schon..

Das ist mir vorher gar nicht aufgefallen, dass die so stark bei 4K sind. Allerdings ist das mit Vorsicht zu genießen. Seagate macht das wie bei SMR HDDs, in dem zufällige Schreibprozesse nicht zufällig, sondern sequentiell auf eine separate Spur geschrieben werden:

Wenn der Bereich vollgeschrieben wurde, verpufft der Vorteil natürlich sofort wieder. Ist die Frage wie groß der wirklich ist. Erstaunlich, dass genau das natürlich keiner getestet hat.

..vllt. ist das im privaten Umfeld ja auch nicht "so wichtig", man möchte nur eben in der Preisklasse schon was vernünftiges kaufen. Obwohl beide schon besser als eine WD Red plus 16TB daher kommen.
