jang430
I wanted to remove my existing HDDs quickly. Data isn't important. I set up another trial Unraid, and connected 8 drives to it. I precleared the drives. Since they passed, I will use them. They are 8 units of 2 TB drives. I need all the disk space I can get. Will creating a cache pool using all 8 drives give me the quickest writing speed? What choices do I select for btrfs, assuming I can risk data being lost. Can I do it without any array and parity? I also plan to use rsync from first Unraid to trial Unraid, so that if interrupted, can continue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment

You need at least one array device assigned, it can be an old flash drive assigned as a data device. Quote Link to comment
jang430
The Array device can be a usb drive correct? Would it die quickly if I mainly want to write to cache. I've ran out of sata ports :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment

No need to actually use that array drive for anything, it is just a requirement to allow you to push the Start button. Quote Link to comment

jang430
Unrelated question. Any way to let rsync show it's progress? 10%, or how much left to transfer? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Only how many files remain, if you use "--progress --no-inc-resursive" as options. Quote Link to comment
jang430
I guess that will do. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote Link to comment
