New USB Flash Drive

Featured Replies

So I'm moving my unraid setup to a new case, and mounting it in a rack.  In this new setup, a lower profile USB unraid boot drive would be a lot better than the largish drive I'm using now.

Can anybody recommend a good quality but low profile flash drive ? And what's the procedure for moving my existing setup to a new drive ?

Thanks !

USB2 ports are more reliable for the Unraid boot drive, and speed and capacity aren't important. If you do choose a very small USB3 drive, it could have problems due to overheating. I have been using a small USB2 (Sandisk Fit) drive in my systems for many years.

It would be much better to move the drive to the inside of the case using a USB jack to pin motherboard port adapter.

That way the drive won't get accidentally removed or broken.
