Rackmount Case for many drives

Featured Replies

Hey there, im searching for a new Rackmount Case for my Unraid Server with special needs:

What it needs:

- 19"

- 4U/HE

- max depth of 600mm

- 10+ HDD Bays (HotSwap would be nice, but not needed)

- 8+ SSD Bays (alternatively 2x 5.25" Bay)

it should be available in/to Germany

any suggestions would be nice

...then, you can also ask in the German section of the Forum.

Does it have to be rackmounted or is a tower case, put sideways on a rack shelve also an option?

See here, for example:

The first one is a good first idea (thanks), and no, a tower case is no option, the rack is already nearly full no space left to waste :)

...here is another one, that someone in the German luxx forum already has at hand: https://www.logic-case.com/products/rackmount-chassis/4u/4u-short-length-server-case-w-16-x-35-hot-swappable-satasas-drive-bays-6gbs-minisas-+-2-x-525-bays-sc-4316s/ ... depth is 550mm

...seems nice and in each 5.25 bay you can add one of these: https://geizhals.de/icy-dock-expresscage-mb326sp-b-a1531981.html?hloc=de for 6x2.5 HDD/SDD each.

The FANs are easily replacable and I am using one with noctua FANs in my smaller, desktop/HTPC size unRaid box.

Icy Dock also has a 8x2.5 in their ToughArmor line (see my signature).

...ah, ok...nice...but with a pricetag 3-times higher than the comodity 6-bay version (or at the same level as the 4U case itsself) 🤔

I would have bought this if I was in Europe...

Whatever you decide on, make sure you get 120 mm fans so the noise isn't loud.  Supermicro chassis sound like airplanes during takeoff...  I have an SC 846 for reference.  Loud AF.

Thanks but a bit to deep, 680mm my rack is only a 620mm one :D

...this is a nice case...similar ones I know come in higher depths only.

Ask the distributor in UK, whether they can directly forward it to your location in DE...they don't have any fuel for the logistics anyway now ;-)

Thats evil :D

....that's more economic and ecological as well, as they are not the manufacturer, they should be able to separate the commercial stream from that of the goods supply.
