(SOLVED) 6.9.2 - Huge number of errors in HDD, Extended SMART Failing

Featured Replies

Hi.

I found i have a huge number of errors (6579) on my Parity 1 Drive. the drive wasn't disabled but when i run an extended SMART test the test fails with an error. The short test passes no problem.

Attached are the SMART and Diagnostics i haven't rebooted the server.

I ordered some new sata cables to try replacing them (isaw in a quick google search this might be a problem) but i can't imagine why i suddenly get so many when before this didn't happen. i occasionally get a handful of error and all fixed no problem with no disable and smart passes.

I'm worried this is a sign of the drive dying.

If the extended SMART test is failing then the drive should be replaced ASAP.   Even if you have/had cable issues this would not have affected the extended SMART test as that is internal to the drive,

Ok thanks for the feedback. I'll order a replacement today.

Thanks again
