Parity error after power failure?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I''m having a parity errors after a Power failure!!  The server is connected to a UPS but the power failure was longer than expected and the server shutoff whilst writing to the Array.

Now I have Parity errors:  (Last checked on 4/1/2011 2:08:22 AM, finding 1634  errors.)

I run the Parity Check several times and it seems that there's no effect. Also have these errors on the Syslog.

I don't know if ata5.00 is actually disk5 or no.

It' seems that the were no missing files or anything so is it possible to rebuild the data on the parity drive to fix it??

thanks guys,

Gonzalo

Please post the entire syslog. zip it if needed.

Here it is.

There's a lot fo sshd entries that should be ignored!

Thanks,

Cheers

Gonzalo.

ata5 is disk4. Get a SMART report:

smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sde

Disk seems to be fine.

Coud be a cable or power problem. Check the cabling. Which PSU?

  • Author

Will check the cables.

The PSU is THERMALTAKE 850w 60a TR2  ( I have 8 disks in total)

The syslog means that the HDD is failing??

  • Author

What happend if I redo the Parity check?? Is it possible to fix this problem? How do I do it?

The drive looks ok. Reseat the cables and see if the errors stop.

  • Author

Ok, will do it, thanks!
