I've been playing around with unRAID on an old Dell I had in the closet and I have pretty much fell in love with it. It can solve my storage and data security issues with no problem.

 

I'm ready to make the jump from playing around to actually making up a real box.

 

I have the AUS "P5B-VM" mobo that i've been using for my desktop for a few years. I plan to use that one as the starting point.

 

My question is about my mobo. I have the "P5B-VM", everybody has been raving about the "P5B-VM DO".

 

what's the difference?

Almost same. Chipset slightly different.  LimeTech used to use the "DO" version in their prebuilt servers, hence people were trying to duplicate for perfect compatibility.

 

Several people use the non DO version too, if I recall.
