[SOLVED] Dedicated Pre-Clear Slot -- Included in License limitations?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have an external dock for 2.5"/3.5" drives, and was going to use it for pre-clearing drives, as well as transferring old drives' data.  If I purchase the Plus license, would that slot be considered that included Cache drive (which I plan to also add separately), or as one of the 5 data drives? Or am I allowed an additional drive(s) outside of the array/one cache drive?

Thanks

The number of disks refers to the number of ARRAY disks (including parity).

In addition, with a plus or pro license you can have 1 additional "cache" drive.

You can have more non-array disks, which includes disks you are preclearing. With a little know how you can mount these disks and share them.  They just are not parity protected nor part of user shares.

LOOK HERE for more details on the license capacity.

Thank you sir

I recently found out my ASUS M4A785-M does not have an eSATA port as I thought it did. Instead, I made another USB drive and plug it into my laptop, which does have an eSATA port. I simply boot into unRAID instead of the OS disk.

This works out well for me. The lappy can run a pre-clear and it's no problem while its out of commission from regular use.
