1st Time UnRaider building a backup server @ 200TB

Featured Replies

Hey all

I am new here, but seasoned IT professional. I work in house for a small business that is getting into 4k video. We are going to have a large (200TB) array that we use full time for production and I want to create a less expensive backup solution for us in the form of an Unraid server that will live in a different building but will be connected via 10GbE over SFP+/Fiber.

I am looking for a great balance of speed and cost efficiency. I have read around a bunch and very few people seem to be doing this kind of capacity so I thought I would ask if anybody has suggestions on where I might look for existing building suggestions or if you think to yourself "He should get this mobo with these drives and this controller" etc. I want to know all your ideas.

Ideally the server presents a SMB volume I can do regular backups to. Nothing else. No docker or other fancy tricks. Storage only. Thanks in advance.

This suggestion may surprise you, but did you take a look at Linus Tech Tips' videos?
