[SOLVED] License UNRAID to a Hard Drive or SSD

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've searched the forums and cannot seem to find an answer for this.

Is it possible to supply the GUID of a HDD or SSD to obtain a Plus or Pro license for UNRAID?

I am able to install the free version to an SSD and it works great, but would like to allow for more storage with either the Plus or Pro licenses.

I haven't had much luck in the past with USB keys and happen to have some 8GB and 16GB SSD's kicking around.

Thanks,

Mike

Both versions of the non-free unRAID require the flash drive to be present.  I think you can have unRAID run off the other drives but really there isn't any point to it.

Yeah but I really don't want to have UnRAID run off of a USB Key, I'd like to install it on a HDD or SSD.

And I am wondering if this is possible.

Yes, it is possible to boot unraid from a hard drive.  To use a plus or pro license though requires a flash drive with the license key on it attached to the system; in this configuration the system boots from the hard drive but still uses the flash drive to authenticate itself as a licensed copy.  There is no way to run a licensed version without a flash drive.
