chuckthetekkie
I was using the 92xx-8i and it was working fine but I have since upgraded to the LSI 9300-16i but none of the devices show up in the Unraid main dashboard in "unassigned devices" but I do see them in the System Devices section. The devices also do show up in /dev/disk/by-id/ as SCSI devices now and I can use them in VMs but they don't show up in "Unassigned Devices" anymore. Does the Unassigned Devices Plugin handle SCSI Devices differently than SATA? Quote Link to comment

JorgeB
It's using a very old firmware, you need to update to latest. Quote Link to comment
chuckthetekkie
The problem is that the 9300-16i is not listed on the Broadcom website. At least I couldn't find it. I could only find the 9300-8i and the 9305-16i but not the 9300-16i. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
9300-16i is just two 9300-8i in the same board, it will appear as two controllers, update both using the 9300-8i firmware. Quote Link to comment

Splatter21
FYI that i just found. see this article from the TrueNAS forum site that has a non-public 16.00.12.00 firmware for the 9300-16i. Page Link: https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/lsi-9300-xx-firmware-update.85768/ SAS 9300-16i Firmware 16.00.12.00 Download Link: https://www.truenas.com/community/resources/lsi-9300-xx-firmware-update.145/download Also i setup a temp system with windows on it and loaded the Broadcom LSI Authority app on it. it makes identifying and updating firmware really easy!! (note that LSA is the replacement for the MegaRAID Software) This is the latest version that i could find (ignore that it says for RAID) Page Link: https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds559924-lenovo-storage-devices-raid-adapter-windows-utility LSA version = 008.002.017.000 download link: https://download.lenovo.com/servers/mig/2022/12/09/56543/lnvgy_utl_raid_mr3.lsa-202208260254-0041_windows_indiv.zip Edited March 28, 2023 by Splatter21 Quote Link to comment

I havent been having crashing issues but i have a sneaking suspicion i've an overheating issue. Drives reporting errors on large prolonged transfers.... particularly of many small files. Everything works perfectly other than those times... although I am yet to try a full parity check out of fear of making things worse! Quote Link to comment
Schaka
Sorry for kind of hijacking this topic. I'm looking at the 9300-16i for my drives, but it would be running in a PCIE 3.0 x4 slot. As far as I can tell, spinning drives shouldn't use up the bandwidth fully, so I should be good (will only use 12 drives anyway). But I'm a bit concerned after reading that it's 2x 9300-8i. Will having it in an x4 slot (physically x16) cause issues with that? Quote Link to comment

I picked up the following card recently: LSI SAS 9300-16I 12GB/S HBA BUS ADAPTER CARD IT Mode 4*SFF-8643 SATA Cable I was curious of the best way to check over the card before putting into production in UnRaid, as well confirm IT MODE is actually flashed and working correctly. Is there a step by step guide to reference before using the card? Thank you. Quote Link to comment
