Millions of read errors on fresh unRAID setup.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have four WD Purple 4TB drives in an external Yottabyte USB connected enclosure.

I have an 8TB Barracuda with existing data I'd like to merge on to the WD drives when setup is complete.

I have a Samsung NVME inside the computer that I am using as a cache.

I would like to setup unRAID to house VM's and my Plex server, but when I try to finalize the setup, my disks flash millions of sector errors across all of them, which shouldn't make sense. I pulled these new drives from a security DVR that I never used, they have only a few hours of runtime. I'm not sure if this is an enclosure issue or if there's something else going on here. I attached the diagnostic file below, but I'm not sure if more is needed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

This is likely the problem, USB is not recommended for array/pool devices.
