April 4, 201115 yr I am evaluating an Unraid system. I plan (if all goes well) to purchase a Plus license. Currently I have the system configured with 3 drives and learning my way around. I just added a 4th drive to my sata (the other 3 are sata too) and wanted to copy data from it to the array. But the drive does not show up at all. I know it is connected as I can see it in the bios. Does the free version limit my ability to see this 4th drive?? I know there is a 3 drive limit on the array. Appreciate insight. Bob Silver
April 4, 201115 yr normally you would be able to mount him manually outside the array fdisk -l should show you all disks then it is just a question of making a mountpoint and mounting the disk you can even share him if you add him to the samba config manually

Must this be done at the console? Or is there a way to do this from the Tower Main page?

April 4, 201115 yr You can do all of this via Disk Management page in unMenu if you have that installed. Any drive not in the array will show up at the bottom of that page. Use the buttons to do the following... 1. Create a reiserfs filesystem on the drive 2. Mount the drive 3. Make the drive writeable (optional) 4. Share the drive

Was able to mount and then share the drive. I then was able to see drive and copy data to the array. Question. Why do I (would) I create a reiserfs file system? Is this needed to write to the disk? Also I have a dvd drive installed. Will I be able to copy files from it to the array as well? Dont see it listed in the disk management area.
April 4, 201115 yr unRAID does not have the driver required to use the CD/DVD drive so you will not be able to use it.
