April 6, 201115 yr I'll try to keep this as consise as possible... Running the latest beta with the 'free 2 drive license key'...have two WD20EARS drives precleared and added them to the array - no parity or cache drive currently enabled. Created a share and it works great - got about 80mb/sec and copied a half TB of data which all landed on disk1 based on my share settings. At this time I had two other WD20EARS drives still in preclearing stage...and just received my upgraded license key so I copied it over to the flash but didn't reboot as my preclear was still going... This morning my third WD20EARS drive was done with preclear, so I stopped my array, added the disk to the array, did the format, and my Win 7 64 bit host now sees the full 6tb available (I'm not running parity or cache by the way) Problem is: I can't copy data to the array any more. My copy jobs sit in 'calculating' and they it says the array unavailable (even though the web interface is working and I'm not dropping pings to the ip). When I look at the hardware I see disk1 drive activity running...but the win 7 host is just hanging on the file copy and eventually errors out as being unavailable. I can copy the same data to another drive locally or another machine's network share, so I know that's up and running.. Could the issue be that even though it allowed me to add drive #3 to the array, it's somehow not letting me access the array because it's beyond the 2 disk limit and hasn't had a reboot to enable all of the drives? Hardware config - WD20EARS, IcyDock 5 in 3, A760G with Sempron 140, 2GB ram, using onboard SATA with bios settings per wiki, Cruzer usb. Any info is appreciated... Pete
April 6, 201115 yr without a syslog we can't help very much. My suggestion... reboot both machines and see if that fixes the issue.
April 6, 201115 yr Author Yeah, that's my plan once the preclear is done for sure. Just thought it was an odd situation to run into especially if this was a license issue I was unaware of. Now I'm trying this and the copy is kicking off right away...i'm on the last step of my preclear on drive #4...perhaps there's something overloading the sata bus on my A760 biostar? I just ran a single 8gb file copy and it worked, surprisingly...but it did hang for about 15 seconds saying "Discovering items" before the copy kicked off at 80mb/sec. Then I ran the other 17 x 8GB files together and it hung for even less time and then started copying...which it wasn't doing 30 minutes ago, and all I did was put that post up Strange... Pete
April 6, 201115 yr Author without a syslog we can't help very much. Question - which log are you referring to? Although it may not be helpful for this post now that it's working..are you referring to the full system log or just a partial copy of my system log? Thanks for the quick reply btw.... Pete
April 6, 201115 yr The full system log would be nice. The General Support forum has a sticky thread in it that tells you how to grab it. A full breakdown of hardware would also help, as there might be a component in there that is known to not work 100%.
