April 8, 201115 yr My server has been working fune and I just installed the AOC-SASLP-MV8 into my system and it will not fully boot. The motherboard seems to not be able to completely POST and seems to get about 80% of the way through. The card will POST and spin up the drives. I disconnected all drives and cables and booted with just the card, same problem. It boots fine otherwise. Also the card is VERY hot when I touch it. Just to avoid anyone asking if I have it plugged in right, I tried it in the X4 slot (for which it's designed) and the X16 slot. This is the board I'm running, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131631&cm_re=M4A89GTD-_-13-131-631-_-Product ASUS M4A89GTD Thanks for any help!
April 8, 201115 yr Other forum members may ask for your hardware. Is it the same as this: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=10813.msg102802#msg102802 If so, what is the firmware version on the AOC card? Many have reported boot problems with the Asus boards and the AOC SASLP-MV8 card .21 firmware. Downgrading to the .15 fw helped. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=9488.0 (option rom insufficient for the larger size firmware). Edit: Fixed link.

I will try downgrading the firmware and see if that works. It's a brand new card from newegg so I would assume it has the current firmware.
April 8, 201115 yr It has to do with the size of the firmware and when that board is running AHCI.. Do a search and you'll find the solution I posted. Someone mentioned you can try RAID and that might work, if it does let us know. Otherwise downgrade the firmware. josh
