How to move unRaid to a new machine

Featured Replies

My current unRaid server is running on an ancient AMD Athlon II X2.  I just acquired a used PC. It has a Gigabyte GA-Z77M-D3H-MVP motherboard with a Core i7-3770K processor and a Geforce GT-740 GPU card and I would like to move my UnRaid server to this card. I understand that moving an UnRaid installation to a new computer is pretty easy but I thought I would get advice anyway.

1) I would like to pass the the GPU through to a VM. How do you get UnRaid to use the Intel integrated graphics instead of the GPU?

2) Is there anything else I need to do to move the installation? Can I just install my LSI SAS 9211-8i, move the disks and boot it up?

3) the PC currently has a Windows 10 installation on it. Is there any way I can convert that into a VM and run after I make the switch?

4) Is there anything else I should know or watch out for?

Thanks.

Make sure you get the Product key for the present install as you will need one for your VM.  Google 'Find Windows 10 Product Key ' for details on how to do this.
