Remove data from smaller drives and remove then empty small drives from pool

Featured Replies

When i startet my build i put a lot of drives in my Server so i am now on 24 drives, most of themn are 2TB drives, what only take space and use electricty. I like to move the Server in a different case and shrink the amount of drives down.

There comes my question on this 2 TB drives are next to zero data on usually only a few GB, now i woiuld like to move this data to on e of the bigger empty drives and the take the small drives out of the pool to shrink the amount of drives down.

I would be very happy if someone could tell me what is the best wa to do that. I use user shares, so this shares span over all the drives.

Thanks!

thanks, but how to take then the empty drives out ?

Tools, new config, rebuild parity.

Be very careful when assigning drives to the parity slots as they will be completely overwritten.

so is just need to make sure i reselect the original partiy as a parity ?

Yes. You can use the preserve all option in new config to help you.
