What is .fuse_hidden000000bb00000003?

Featured Replies

Okay, so I tried moving a movie via terracopy to my unRAID server and during the first two attempts, the transfer failed, in fact my Windows 7 PC actually froze during both processes. After the second attempt, a new file appeared on the unRAID server in the folder I was trying to copy the movie to. The name of the file was originally .fuse_hidden000000bb00000001 but I deleted this using the rm function via telnet. The file came back instantly as .fuse_hidden000000bb00000002. I deleted this again using the rm function, and it showed up one more time as .fuse_hidden000000bb00000003. I haven't attempted to delete this file yet, because my attempts have been in vain to this point.

Also, I should note that  on the third attempt, the transfer was successful and the movie currently resides in the correct file with this mysterious file type.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions I could try to remove this file. Windows and unMENU report this file as being about 4 gigs, so I'd like to get this off the system to keep it from eating up space.

Thanks for any ideas!

Sorry, I've been gone for a while since I last posted. As it turns out, the files were eventually removed after the system was inactive for a few hours. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the files seemed to be nothing more than the residual of the deleted file as it was in the process of being removed from the hard drive.

The link that mbryanr posted described the situation perfectly. I ignored the file for a while and it was gone when I came back. No big deal, I was freaking out for no reason.

Thanks for everyone's help!
