[6.9.2] CPU Cores Stuck at 100% (2 Cores/Threads)

Featured Replies

Good evening,

Diagnostics attached.

I've read quite a few posts on the UnRaid forums on this topic, most notably:

I also have two CPU cores stuck at 100%.

Caused by the following two USB-related processes:

Things I've done so far:

  • Updated BIOS firmware (Gigabyte X570 Gaming X)
  • Turned off IOMMU, XHCI, AMD-V (I'm running a Windows VM) and USB legacy in BIOS
  • Turned off Docker & VM services, turned off array in UnRaid
  • Tips and Tweaks - CPU scaling governor: On Demand
  • 0 ACPI interruptions running.....   grep EN -r /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/

/sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/ff_pwr_btn:       0  EN     enabled      unmasked
/sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/ff_gbl_lock:       0  EN     enabled      unmasked

In each scenario, both cores remained stuck at 100%. The only USB device connected is the UnRaid flash boot drive to a USB 1.0 port.

I'm at a loss here. Thankfully there's no noticeable performance issues, but I'd like to keep this CPU/mobo setup for the long-term.

Well, despite the lack of assistance from the forums, I found that monitoring the threads while plugging and unplugging a USB mouse and keyboard did the trick. The threads have returned to normal levels.
