Constant parity checking

Featured Replies

Recently I noticed that every time I do a clean reboot my system goes into a parity check. Can someone please shed some light into this?

Thanks,

Lev

If the system gets hung up and a reboot and has to forcibly kill off say the share system, then an unclean shutdown will occur.  To diagnose, you want to mirror the syslog to flash (Settings, Syslog Settings), and then reboot.

After that post the resulting syslog stored on the flash drive (I believe logs folder) here.

Not a clean shutdown.

Thanks, I'll reboot later and see. I am trying to re-install Nextcloud and am hitting a brick wall...

I just tried to reboot and now the tower will not come up at all!!! I can see flash on my local network, but that is all.

Help!!!

I can ssh into it. Slowly, I see all of the folders through the explorer, it took about 5 minutes for them to come up. Still no GUI.

This looks like what was causing the slow boot

Dec 7 18:21:45 Tower vsftpd[14000]: connect from 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1)

FTP related.

One thing with the webUI is that until everything gets up and running it won't respond (and that line above got repeated for ~5 minutes)

Thank you. So, how do I prevent this in the future?

Disable the builtin FTP.

Thank you! Did I enable it by accident?

Also, on a separate note, I want to run docker safe new permissions. However, there are a lot of folders which were previously checked which are excluded. How do I remove them from the excluded list?

Looks like it is still spinning it's wheels. Taking a very long time to come up. Once up, the ftp was back to enabled. I know that I disabled it...

Also, it seems that my shares all of a sudden just drop out. When I tab over to the Shares all I see are my disks. I'll attach a second diagnostic which is right after the share disappeared.

Make sure you have no ftp users listed

What do you get from the command line with this?

ls -lah /mnt

I have no one else logging into or using the server. It took over 800 sec to come up the ftp is again enabled.

It seems that every time I try to add MariaDB to the docker - I loose my shares!!!

I do not think that I have any ftp users. I am the only one who's using the server.

Make sure you don't have any other tabs or browsers open to your server.

Are there any FSCK files on flash?

FSCK

I am not even sure what that is. What should I look for?

Not really wondering about anybody FTPing. Trying to get FTP disable to stick. Close all browser tabs that are open to your server, including any mobile apps. Work with the webUI from only one browser tab.

Anything filesystem repair on flash can't figure out gets dumped in FSCK files.

Put flash in your PC and let it checkdisk. While there make a backup. Be sure to boot from USB2 port

This part is going to be tough to do. My server is pretty tough to get at. Is there any other way to check the flash?\

I copied everything off of the flash by regular copy in Windows. Hope that carries all files over.

I closed all of the tabs on all PCs pointing to the unraid and still the problem of very long boot up times persists. Is there any way to check to boot process without taking out the flash from the tower?

Just in case it helps, I'll attach the latest diagnostics report. Will the reinstall of the unraid files onto the USB help?

Thank you,

Lev

So, short of scraping the entire build and restarting from scratch, do I have any options to make the server work?

If you have a current flash backup, you can do a new install on that same or a different flash drive, and copy your configuration from the backup config folder. A different flash will make you do a license transfer.

So, if I understand you correctly, there is no way for me to fix my issue without reinstall?
