Just setting up unRAID for the first time, have 4 brand new 3TB disks in, unable to format them.

Definitely a little bit ticked off I bought the Plus license already, didn't even think to check for 3TB compatibility

Did you check out THIS thread.  You can downsize the drives to 2.2T and use them until the 3T support is available.

Just did, and put parity back up to 3TB.  All good so far.

I would not recommend leaving the parity at full size. Create your HPA all 3T dives.

 

UnRaid places an MBR at the front of EVERY disk including parity. The MBR is incapable of supporting a 3T drive. So what you will have is some sort of kluge that may appear to be working, yet create unforeseen problems. When 3T drives are supported, parity will need to be rebuilt with a GPT regardless.
