April 14, 201115 yr I've just checked myMain in unMenu. All my drives are spun down, and have been for quite some time. All my WD array drives (green) are showing 30C, but my cache drive (WD 7200rpm) is showing 22C. This is quite surprising, particularly as ambient temperature is still over 28C (at 1.30 in the morning!). I forced my Samsung drive to spin up, and it reports 28C.
April 18, 201115 yr Sounds like a malfunctioning sensor in the drive. Related to the Samsungs, there was some speculation on some older models that Samsung placed its temperature sensors poorly and they consistently underreported the drive temps. This was never 100% proven or disproven. I have never heard anyone say WDs did anything similar. This sounds like an issue with this particular drive. myMain has a way to set a temperature delta so that a drive underreporting temps by a constant number of degrees C can be correctly seen on the myMain display. (The name of the attribute is "temperature_celsius_delta".)
