December 13, 20214 yr I would prefer having a header adapter so that my unRAID USB system drive is mounted inside the case. Is this adapter sufficient or should I have a USB 3.0 adapter? December 14, 20214 yr No advantage to USB3 for this purpose. And USB2 seems to be more reliable, or at least, some people experience disconnects with USB3 on their hardware.

It keeps the usb drive in the air flow, where a cabled one will hang down. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YFXH5K9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I was concerned with it being a cheap chinesium part but I have never had any usb issues, it is simple and has worked.
