UnRaid Upgrade Advice

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just hoping to get some advice on upgrading my Unraid server. My current set up is a core i3-9100 with 16Gb RAM and no GPU which is great for file transferring and a few dockers. However I now want to do all that but also want to be able to have maybe 3-4 VMs with one of those being my daily driver for CAD projects (in particular Altium). I don't want to spend heaps of money so thinking of buying a core i9-900k so I don't need to buy a new motherboard and a cheap GPU for GPU passthrough for the daily driver.

Do you all think this upgrade will be able to meet my requirements. If not what setup would you recommend? Will getting more RAM also increase performance?

Thanks in advance!
