April 20, 201115 yr Shipped a defective drive to WD on April 15th. Just checked the status, and a replacement drive is en-route as of today (3 business days)! Nicely done WD! Currently not the biggest fan of your drives (Used to love them, but had a few bad EARS drives lately), but your customer service is top notch!
April 20, 201115 yr I agree, their drive replacement policy is the best of all the HDD manufacturers. Quick, easy, and cheap. Seagate's, on the other hand, is a nightmare. If you need to replace a Seagate drive, I recommend that you just bite the bullet and pay the $10 advanced replacement fee. Otherwise, you are stuck providing your own packaging (to their extremely stringent standards, which are very hard to meet for the average consumer) and paying the shipping for the drive to Seagate's facility (which is probably going to cost you between $5 and $10 anyway).
