Unable to connect to localhost (webgui on the server itself)

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my server.

A few days ago I made a backup in a Docker container (In this case it was ioBroker).
This shot my system load directly to 100% of all cores....
This has never happened before.
The server stopped responding at all for 15min, so I had to do a hard reset.

And here the problem started.
"unable to connect to localhost"

So I grabbed the server and connected a mouse, keyboard and monitor.

When I started the server normally it only started up to a point where a cursor was blinking in the top left corner and then it didn't do anything.

Then I started in SafeMode with Gui.
It booted up and I could log in, but even then I got "unable to connect to localhost".
(additional information: I had to change the USB ports every now and then after switching off the server because it didn't recognize the stick when booting up again)

After a few times rebooting in Safe Mode GUI I suddenly got it and except for the missing plugins everything seemed to be "normal".

I read that I should delete everything under config/plugins/ because the safe mode only removes the plugins...
This I did and started again with the same result "unable to connect to localhost".
By the way I copied the content of the stick once completely.

I just do not get further, the server does not want to start "normally"...

TLDR:
I can start and access WebGUI in safe mode.
I can not access the server in normal GUI mode "unable to connect to localhost".

But according to the router it is reachable and it is pingable.
Deleting all folders and files under config/plugins/ did not help.

I hope you can support me.

Greetings
Chris

How long are you waiting before attempting to access the server?  Can you reach it from another system on your network

Post your diagnostics

I tried it for like 10minutes.

Yes I tried accessing it from other systems, but same issue.

At start I tried everything without ethernet. But it doesn't matter.

The question I should ask, probably is: what else except of plug-ins does the safe mode change? Bcoz when I delete all plug-ins and files in that folder it does not change the outcome :(

The FAQ just says that the safe mode only deactivates the plug-ins, nothing else.

But something has to be different..
