File transfers Hang only from Mac

Featured Replies

Unraid SMB files grind to a hault every few seconds or so, and resume 12 seconds later, (making work a little hard). From my observation it seems to be something specifically with unraid SMB protocol tripping a mac security feature

Windows copying to Unraid works fine, and any copy from this mac to a regular windows SMB works fine, just seems to be unraid.

I noticed a peculiar quark, if I'm compressing a file at the same time- the transfers fly right on through. From some digging it seems there was an older problem with a new MacOS security feature some years ago, but that was patched and I see no mention of it since. Oddly Mac seems to hang it's disk reads after a couple gigs transfer on Unraid from a security feature. Not certain this is still related but curious what you big brains think.

(attached photo: notice the surges of file transfer speeds, and then drops to a few Kbps, continues to surge and hang. The steady stream of traffic on the last third of the graph is when a file starts getting compressed)

Thank you to Apple engineers who are currently working on this, it definitely seems to be Mac locking it's disk up. If I edit a project fully on the SMB it works fine (not reading and writing to mac disk). Will keep posted for anyone else who experiences this!
