Slackware64 14.2 in QEMU

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am looking at compiling a package for unraid and I would like to do that in a VM. I thought I should use Slackware64 14.2 for the compilation as that is the bistro from which unraid 6.9.3 is based. I tried to download a few ISOs of SW64 14.2 from various sources but I can't get any to work. Using the official install DVD, I am blocked at the "welcome to grub" screen and nothing more happens.

Would anyone have a copy of a working install medium for Slackware64 14.2 please?

Thanks

With the help of Alien BOB from https://slackware.nl/, I go to this solution:

  1. Download an ISO with your preferred desktop from https://slackware.nl/slackware-live/latest/
  2. Login to live environment (user and password are: root)
  3. Proceed with setting up normally (install command: setup2hd)
  4. Select Install from ftp/http server
  5. Set the first path to https://slackware.nl/slackware/slackware64-14.2/ for the 14.2 release
  6. Set the package path to slackware64
  7. Proceed with the installation normally
